Central City Concern’s Business Enterprises is building a work force that is ready to meet the needs local employers. As a major employer of formerly homeless people, we are giving them the chance to earn their way out of homelessness and build self sufficient lives.
When clients show they are ready for employment, we engage many of them in our various work opportunities available through Business Enterprises. Our janitorial, painting and maintenance companies allow people to build the soft skills of maintaining a work life as well as specific job skills.
Downtown Clean and Safe is an example of such an endeavor, providing personalized job coaching to employees while offering a much needed service to our community. The Portland Business Alliance contracts with CCC to keep clean a 213-block area in central downtown and along the bus mall. Our employees remove graffiti, contribute to public safety, and keep downtown free of litter and debris. In turn, they build a work history that they can use as they rebuild their lives and pursue gainful employment. Peers provide mentoring, and are living examples of clean, sober, healthy and productive lives.
- Business Enterprises currently employs 80 individuals.
